The Different Types of Euthanasia and the Debate Around Legalization

Euthanasia is described in the Chamber’s English Dictionary as “ the act or practice of putting somebody painlessly, or as softly as possible, to death”.

There are various forms of Euthanasia, that i must clarify before discussing the teachings of the several Christian denominations. The most frequent of these is Voluntary Euthanasia, where in fact the patient decides for themselves, that they might prefer to be lifeless. They could decide at the time, or simply they might have created a ‘living will’ instructing doctors to destroy them if they're ever in times where they'll never be conscious once again. This may be for the reason that victim is normally a baby and can’t speak however, or perhaps the victim can be in a coma and struggles to respond to people around him, however in this case a member of family or doctor will choose for the person.

It can be important to tell apart the difference between killing somebody (Active), and permitting them to die (Passive). Killing one is expressed in an action. A good example of this, will be a doctor injecting his patient with a poison. Whereas allowing someone die, is definitely expressed in not performing an action.
